WordPress Pages Versus Page Templates

Table of Contents

I get a lot of questions about how many pages we will design. Sometimes we are building a website that might include a portfolio of work or a catalog of products. I thought I’d put together a video tutorial explaining the difference.

    1. A WordPress Page.

A page is considered a single piece of content that as a whole can be essentially edited. You can take a page and edit its layout, move photos to the left or right or change text color.

    2. A WordPress Page Template.

A page template is considered a compilation of data that is displayed according to a specific layout determined by its code. You can edit the page template without knowing some CSS, HTML, and maybe some JavaScript. You can only edit the specific pieces of content.
